Fundamentals Program

The Fundamentals program offers an exciting classroom-based, instructor-led educational opportunity for people new to materials and operations management or people working in positions that interact with these fields.

Participants gain practical, essential skills that help them become more effective and productive in their jobs. The five-module format of the course teaches basic concepts, techniques, and terminology.


For people aspiring to APICS certification, Fundamentals establishes a solid entry-level base of knowledge upon which to build.

 

The information below will enable you to view each of the modules of Fundamentals based on your areas of interest:


The Fundamentals of Inventory Control introduces participants to essential vocabulary and skills identifying and applying the basic principles of inventory management.


The Fundamentals of Planning teaches participants the principals of effective planning.
 

The Fundamentals of Manufacturing Control course details priority and capacity management through the use of material requirements planning.


The Fundamentals of Operations Management maps out the relationship between goods and services and the operation of the systems.


The Fundamentals of Materials Handling and Warehousing maps out the relationship between the physical aspects of goods and services and the operation of the systems that provide these physical distribution services. This course was developed by OMERIC - the Operations Management Education and Research Institute of Canada - an organization affiliated with APICS Region VIII, which developed the complete Fundamentals program, that is now a standard APICS offering.
